Washed the Jeep and put it away until March 12.
Last week wheeled Windrock upper, lower and Tellico.
Now need to clean the garage to have room to do major maint.

Installed the MOPAR Cold Air Induction kit on my JK. Got it from Manassas Jeep too.
Dan and I put it on Wednesday night. We figure its got to be worth at least 50hp increase in power (give or take 48-49hp lol)....but the damn thing sounds freaking awesome when you get on it. That alone was worth it to me.
Now I really need to steam clean the engine bay so the rest of it is shiney and purdy.

Hey Doug, keep me updated on how you like your Cold Air intake... Our price on it from Manassas Jeep is great... Let me know if you see any advantage over just the sound.
Thanks |
Ryan so far it seems the initial throttle response is quicker. I know when it was colder outside on Wednesday night it appeared to pull a little harder. This morning it felt pretty good.
If you want we can just get together somewhere and you can drive it just to see. Just remember I am running 35's with 4.10's (soon to be 5.13's)

Took my 2004 Rubi with 2.5" HD OME, and 33" MTRs

and added a Clayton 5.5 LA with eng/tranny skids, 35" KM2s, Coast DS, ORO Swaylock, ORO U-Turn, and some RRC sliders and turned it into this:

Alloys front and rears are in the garage waiting for me to make a call on the gears. I still need to level things off a bit, adjust the bumpstops, and add back the steering stabilizer, but so far no issues.
Thanks to David @ Northridge for putting the deal together and working thru some ordering issues. He really came thru. And thanks to Eric @ Freaky Tree Offroad for help with the welding.
Now I need to transfer my old parts to the wife's Rubi!

Welded 3/16 plate to the outside and bottom of the driver side frame rail from the bumper back to the frame rail under the door (which is already plated). About 60 rosette welds and a few stitches on the edges to keep it all in place. Each plated formed to fit the curvature of the frame with NO gaps under the plates when welding in place.
It makes a very noticeable difference in the handling and feels very solid, even with just one side done. The reason for doing all the frame plating besides stiffening up a well worn chassis and protection from rocks is to set a foundation for cage work which will be some sort of hybrid inner/exo system.
I owe WJcando big time for assisting me with this. If he hadn't helped out to day it wouldn't have been possible to get it done.
Photo's to follow (as is the plating of the passengers side).
