I got a chance to get on a vehicle scale at work today and was able to slide the LJ on for a measurement.

Stock Curb Weight for a 2005 wrangler Unlimited - 3720 lbs
As She sits today w/o driver and 1/4 tank of gas - 4580 lbs

Difference - 860 lbs

I've always said that I've probably added 1000 lbs of junk to my rig, I guess I got a few mods to go before thats true. Its no wonder my fuel economy isn't what it used to be.

Heavy Mods - HardTop, 33" meats, ARB bull bar, Winch, Rear Bumper/Tire carrier, Skid Plates (1/4" Engine, 1/4" Transfer, Control Arm, Steering Box, Radiator, 3/16" rockers, 3/16" gastank, body mounts), Currie Steering, Alloy USA axle shafts front & rear, JKS trackbars, JKS control arms, Tuffy Cargo Box (loaded ... cant leave home without tools)

Anybody else had a chance to weight in?

The HMMWV we weighed was 12k plus, atleast I wasnt the fattest pig at the party.

Add that ARB front bumper and which and there is 200lbs or so. I am not supprised.

Kathryn's is 4391 with just a full take of gas, and nothing else in it. Two of my tool boxes are over 50lbs each, then you add in the winch tackle box, straps, spare parts, water people etc I would bet we would be over 5K.

The Rubi when I last weighted it on the way out of town for Camp Jeep loaded was at 5123lbs, and that included me and my gear.

Maybe I pack too many tools. Rolling Eyes

I've wanted to weigh mine for sometime, so I think that I'll do it the next time that I have a chance. I wonder if they'll let me slip into a truck weigh-in station if they're not too busy. Laughing

I'm probably right up there with you. Laughing

Cline, PPRO did just that a few years back. I take our stuff over to a local moving company, it cost $5 or $10 per wieght. Not bad if you are interested or need to do so. I know Hilldrup Moving and Storage has one in their Stafford office, but not sure of any of the others up there. And most truck stops that have the Cat Scales will do them for a small fee also.

Thanks for the information. I'd never even considered a moving company. I'm going to call around. It would be worth a few bucks just to find out.

Problem come with that everything we tend to throw on our Jeeps is heavy.

No idea of the weight on mine, other than it just weighs too much. I wheel at Crozet with all my junk in the truck, instead of the Jeep, and it feels so much better on the trails being lighter.

Been trying to put mine on a diet, but finding it hard to find places to loose the weight.

I've been trying to think of a diet for mine. Basic ideas were synthetic winch line instead of cable and some sorta stubby like front bumper. Sadly those are the only two ideas I have. I've already ditched the rear seat and use alumn wheels. Maybe a bikini top aswell, opposed to the hard top thats a decent weight savings, but probably only 20lbs over the soft top.

Remove the Cage, Windsheild.. Swap out the fuel tank for smaller fuel cell. Smaller lighter tires. Air shocks vs Springs (they have air so they are lighter) Cut body panels off (Ie cut the rear tub), plastic race seats, Lose the AC and Heat, dash. Build a tube frame to replace the box frame...

Just build a buggy....

That's like asking a fat person to cut off their arms and legs to lose weight. Shocked Laughing
